Celebrating Two Decades of Giving in the Windsor area!

A milestone anniversary is a special moment in the life of an organization. Typically, it is a time to celebrate three things: the joys of today, the memories of the past, and the hopes for the future. As the Windsor Community Foundation marks 20 years of giving back to our community, we are humbled and energized to consider all of these.

Established in 2001, the Windsor Community Foundation has been an active partner in the Windsor community.  The earliest event of record was an important contribution toward the planning and construction of the Windsor Recreation Center. During that effort, over $60,000 was contributed for the completion of the building. The opportunity to impact the community in a significant way was thrust upon the Foundation in May of 2008 when a tornado devastated the Windsor community. In concert with the Weld Community Foundation, over $630,000 was distributed to residents of the region. The Windsor Parks and Recreation Re-Create Fund also raised $166,000 to help re-create lost Parks and Recreation amenities in the Windsor area following the tornado.

Guided by its mission, the Foundation has also awarded grants of more than $73,000 to benefit local nonprofits such as Weld Food Bank-Windsor Mobile Food Pantry, Mary’s Cradle, Lutheran Family Services and Timberline Church-Backpack program. This year, the Foundation provided grants totaling $7,000 to Stepping Stones of Windsor, 60+ Ride and Junior Achievement. Since 2001, it has also provided more than $61,000 in scholarships to 33 Windsor students, including three $2,000 scholarships awarded in 2021.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude at the many ways our donors, board members, and volunteers have worked together to meet community needs through the years. We are also excited about the role that the Community Foundation can play in the future. The Windsor area is growing and as more people are attracted to the area because of what it has to offer, we are here to support them.

We are excited to play our role in maximizing giving and philanthropy right here, enriching the lives of the individuals and organizations which call our communities home. Working here has been a joy, a privilege, and a journey. We look forward to continuing this journey through the next two decades . . . and beyond.  We hope you will join us by supporting the Windsor Community Foundation today!
